How the model works
The model simulates each of the 27 Senate races tens of thousands of times. Each simulation starts from every candidacy's political structure within its own state, corrects that projection with the state polls we aggregate, adjusts uncertainty using the error Senate polls have historically shown at this point in the electoral calendar and identifies each candidate's individual chances, not those of the full slate. See the methodology.
What this model is not
- It does not project states without enough polls.
- It does not assume polls always err in the same direction.
- It is not an election poll.
