How the model works

The model simulates each of the 27 state races tens of thousands of times. Each simulation starts from every candidacy's political structure within its own state, corrects that projection with the state polls we aggregate, adjusts uncertainty using the error polls have historically shown at this point in the electoral calendar and resolves the runoff when no candidate passes 50% of the valid votes. See the methodology.
